Part 2.3 — Stereo Fusion and Spatial Assembly

At first glance, human vision should be chaotic.

Two eyes receive two different images from two different positions in space. Each retina captures slightly different angles, slightly different object relationships, and slightly different timing information.

Logically, consciousness should experience two overlapping worlds.

But it does not.

Instead, awareness experiences:

• one world,
• one space,
• one continuous field of reality.

This seamless merging process is known as stereo fusion.

The brain takes two incomplete and partially conflicting streams of information and combines them into a single coherent experiential model.

The remarkable part is not merely that fusion occurs.

The remarkable part is how completely the process disappears from awareness.

Nobody consciously experiences:

• geometric reconciliation,
• disparity correction,
• alignment computation,
• or sensory conflict resolution.

Consciousness receives only the finished result:

• stable external reality.

The construction becomes invisible behind the projection.

This is one of the central ideas of the 6.5cm Horizontal Parallax theory.

The theory proposes that conscious reality itself emerges through fusion processes.

The world is not passively observed fully assembled.

It is actively stabilized into coherence.

Stereo fusion demonstrates this principle directly.

Each eye alone contains ambiguity. Only together does stable depth emerge.

The brain resolves discrepancies continuously, selecting interpretations that maximize coherence and environmental stability.

This process is not perfect.

Under certain conditions the hidden machinery becomes visible.

Optical illusions expose moments where the brain struggles to stabilize competing interpretations. Double-image effects reveal the separation between visual streams before fusion completes. Misaligned depth cues create discomfort because the nervous system cannot fully reconcile conflicting geometry.

These failures are revealing.

They demonstrate that perception is not direct reality. It is negotiated construction.

The world consciousness experiences exists after stabilization, not before it.

The 6.5cm theory extends this principle far beyond ordinary vision.

It suggests that:

• consciousness itself may function as a fusion field, integrating:
• sensory information,
• temporal continuity,
• spatial geometry,
• memory,
• and prediction

into one coherent experiential universe.

Reality becomes assembled experience.

This interpretation transforms the meaning of observation in physics.

Quantum mechanics already suggests unresolved states persist before measurement.

Relativity already suggests spatial structure depends upon observers.

The theory proposes that both may reflect different stages of stabilization.

Quantum mechanics describes:

• unresolved informational potential.

Relativity describes:

• stabilized experiential geometry.

Stereo fusion becomes a biological analogy for the transition.

Two uncertain streams become one stable world through reconciliation.

• unresolved informational states may become experienced physical reality through projection stabilization processes.

This idea helps explain something otherwise deeply mysterious:

why reality appears singular and coherent despite enormous informational complexity underneath.

The brain does not present consciousness with raw competing data streams. It compresses and stabilizes them into unified experience.

Consciousness therefore inhabits a finished model optimized for coherence rather than fundamental truth.

Virtual reality again provides an important parallel.

A VR system succeeds only when fusion remains stable. If the images diverge incorrectly:

• immersion breaks,
• nausea appears,
• orientation collapses,
• and the illusion weakens.

Reality depends upon successful reconciliation.

The same may be true of waking experience itself.

The external world feels stable because the nervous system maintains continuous fusion across sensory systems:

• vision,
• hearing,
• balance,
• touch,
• proprioception,
• and memory.

Consciousness experiences the integrated projection rather than the fragmented components.

This raises a profound possibility.

Perhaps the universe humans experience is not a raw external object at all.

Perhaps it is:

• a stabilized informational assembly generated through observer-centered fusion processes.

The 6.5 centimeter separation between the eyes becomes critical because it provides the foundational geometric disparity necessary for spatial externalization.

Without disparity, there is no stereoscopic depth. Without fusion, there is no unified spatial field. Without stabilization, there is no coherent world.

The observer does not merely look at reality.

The observer participates in assembling experienced reality.

This does not imply solipsism or that nothing exists independently.

Rather, it suggests that:

• consciousness never encounters foundational reality directly,
• only the stabilized experiential model generated from it.

Physics may therefore face a hidden limitation.

It studies:

• measurements inside the projection, while rarely questioning:
• how the projection itself becomes possible.

The deeper mystery may not be matter alone.

It may be coherence.

How does fragmented information become one world?

How does uncertainty become geometry?

How does consciousness transform signals into the immersive experience of existing inside space itself?

Stereo fusion may represent the first visible clue.

A local biological example of a deeper universal principle:

stable reality emerges through reconciliation across informational differences.

And once that principle becomes visible, the next question naturally follows:

Why does the resulting world feel located outside us rather than inside the brain generating it?
