Unexpected Earnings on Medium Left Me Overjoyed.

Yesterday, I saw something new as I was obsessively checking my stats.

I had never seen this in my earnings report before. It felt like Christmas and I got an unexpected present from Santa in my stocking.

Seriously? $2.27 extra of referred member earnings. I honestly couldn’t contain my excitement.

I think in terms of slime. Slime gives my nieces hours and hours of joy. That could buy me half a jar of slime. Not bad at all, doing something I love. Boy does that motivate me. Whatever I do in this life I just want my cherished little ones to benefit.

I am surprised, because I had no clue people could become members through my link without my putting in effort to set it up. I have seen others leave a call out to readers at the bottom of their stories, to join as members, but I didn’t do that.

So I wonder, was it an automatic thing set up by Medium and there’s no need for me to specifically write a text below my stories? I solely use the Medium App for iPhone to post and so I probably don’t get the full editing features. I’m rather clueless about the tech stuff and I mostly just write. But it’s great if it’s an auto thing.

So far for 20 days of June I’ve earned $14.08 and now an additional $2.27. That to me is tons considering that some stories earn zilch or just 1 cent. It’s pretty hard to earn a buck around here so you should be mighty proud dear reader if you earn anything more than a dollar a month.

My aim is to recover my $5 membership fee and anything beyond that is a bonus and tiny miracle. I’m so grateful for the time premium members of this community spend on reading. I love engaging with you in the comments section and getting to know you better through your stories as well.

I did further investigation using my mum’s ipad. I wanted to see what a non premium member sees. If you’re already a paying premium member you won’t get this notification.

I get it now. Some awesome soul hit the green subscribe while they were still on my page. I would like to flatter myself to think they wanted to read more of my stories. But whoever you are, I’m so thankful. Hope I’ll get lucky again.
