The Invitation I Didn’t Know I’d Been Waiting For

How Human Design taught me to stop speaking to the world and start listening to myself

Sometimes a life doesn’t change because of what you do, but because of what you finally stop doing.

And for me, it began with something simple: keeping my mouth shut.

Not because I had nothing to say. Not because I was afraid. But because my energy only aligns when someone invites me to speak.

It sounds simple. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to learn.

How It Began

I’ve always been fascinated by systems that try to understand the human experience. MBTI, astrology, archetypes — you name it, and I’ve probably studied it. I’m an INTJ, and in a distant past I used to draw my own horoscope by hand, using ephemerides and a pencil. It was my way of creating order in the chaos of being human.

Fast forward to 2017. I was standing behind a massage chair at a metaphysical fair, in the middle of a period where I guided people through coaching, healing, and spiritual growth. I led group meditations, offered treatments, held conversations. It felt like coming home.

After one of those sessions, a man approached me. “Do you know the Human Design System?” he asked.

Coincidentally, I had heard about it for the first time just a month earlier. It had grabbed me instantly. And now someone stood in front of me who knew far more than I did. Synchronicity at its finest.

He handed me 40 GB of material. I dove into it as if I were learning a new language. Within a few months, I had launched my own Dutch Human Design website. I was in my element — and at the same time completely lost.

The Trap I Fell Into

Human Design isn’t a system to understand. It’s a system to live.

But I did what I always do: I studied it obsessively. I wanted to grasp it, master it, dissect it. And that is exactly the trap many Projectors fall into: getting lost in the mind instead of dropping into the body.

I knew my strategy. I knew my authority. I knew how my chart worked.

But I wasn’t living it.

What Human Design Actually Is

Human Design maps your unique blueprint based on your birth date, time, and place. It combines astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the chakra system into one clear model. The result is a personal map that doesn’t tell you who to become, but who you already are.

My Type: The Projector

When I first saw my chart, everything clicked. I turned out to be a Projector — a rare type, about 20% of the population.

Projectors aren’t here to build or manifest. We’re here to see. To guide. To offer direction — but only when someone invites us to.

And that’s the crux: I have to keep my mouth shut until someone asks me to speak.

No unsolicited advice. No pouring energy into people who didn’t ask for it. No initiating things that aren’t meant for me.

It was frustrating. It was liberating. It completely reset the way I moved through life.

What Changed When I Actually Started Living It

Less friction, because I stopped involving myself in things that weren’t mine.

Less energy loss, because I stopped chasing what was never meant for me.

More success, because the people who did invite me were looking for exactly the guidance I could offer.

More fulfillment, because I finally saw what life was asking of me — not the other way around.

I understood the principle quickly, but it took years before I could embody it. Human Design says deconditioning takes about seven years. I’m nine years into it now. I’m not “done” — and I don’t need to be.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about coming home.
