I literally ran into a boy today.

And now I don’t know what to do!

Okay.

Before anyone says anything, yes, I know this sounds like the opening scene of every romantic comedy ever made.

I know, and that’s why I’m writing this.

Because earlier today, I experienced something so aggressively cliché that I’m still not convinced it actually happened. Pinch me now!

Let me explain!

I used to think love would arrive on a white horse, in shining armor, and maybe a Tinder or Bumble notification.

You know what I mean! Meet someone at the right time, exchange charming banter, discover mutual hobbies, fall in love slowly but surely oooh la la… and love happily ever after! Everything neatly organized and color-coded like a spreadsheet!

Unfortunately, Cupid never got the memo.

Instead, he apparently enrolled at my college, bought a massive skateboard, and decided violence was the best introduction.

So I was speed-walking towards my English class, because being on time is apparently something other people can do.

I had my notebook in my hand instead of my bag.

Why?

I don’t know…

Anyway, I’m rushing across campus, mentally preparing for class, and suddenly–

BOOM.

I collide with a human being.

Not a gentle bump, or a small shoulder tap. A full-on, movie-worthy collision.

Papers flew EVERYWHERE.

A skateboard shot across the sidewalk like it had somewhere more important to be than this Hallmark scene.

I looked up, and there he was. A guy. Just some guy. A very cute one at that, unfortunately. Because DUH! If I’m going to embarrass myself, apparently the universe insists on making the witness attractive!

“Sorry!” we both yelled at THE EXACT SAME TIME.

Cause if Cupid didn’t have fun earlier, well, now he did. We picked up the disaster zone, also known as our belongings. I noticed something weird.

Mixed with my English notes were pages covered in engineering equations, sketches of buildings, and dinosaurs wearing glasses?

I giggled, held the paper up, looked at him, and the cutest dinosaur ever, and said the cringiest thing ever.

“Pretty sure Shakespeare didn’t write this.” Nice going, Vespera.

He laughed, adorably by the way, and said

“Yeah, unless Hamlet secretly majored in engineering.”

Why am I still thinking about this six hours later?

We exchanged notes, laughed awkwardly, realized how late we were, and he skateboarded away.

That’s it. That’s the story.

No phone numbers exchanged, no magical soundtrack. Just an incredibly embarrassing collision, and English jokes.

Maybe because life is so boring lately- yes, you can laugh, but somehow my brain has decided this event deserves 98% of today’s processing power.

Most days are emails, assignments, and iced coffee alone. Then one random Tuesday, Cupid decides to throw a meet-cute at your head like a dodgeball. In this case, a skateboard.

So now I’m left with two possibilities.

  1. This was completely normal, and I’ll forget it until next week.
  2. I’m currently living through the first chapter in the love story I’ve always yearned for.

Odds are? Option 1. But mind your business if you see me take the long route to English tomorrow.
