584: Recreating Ponyo’s Ramen

I summoned the power of Studio Ghibli and made Ponyo’s ramen. Yes, from Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea — the one where a boy named Sosuke rescues a goldfish trapped in a bottle (which isn’t even the weirdest part) and she turns into a girl because her dad is a wizard with questionable boundaries.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I decided to do a little anime food challenge: I took on Ponyo’s ramen (the easier, saner choice), while he picked Frieren’s hamburger steak — which honestly looked like it required a degree in culinary.

Making the ramen was honestly a revelation. It was my first time recreating an anime dish and I was ready to cry out of sheer serotonin. You just need a packet of instant noodles (your weapon of choice), a boiled egg, green onion, and a slice of ham cut in half. That’s it. No ancient spells, no secret sauces — just pure, unadulterated comfort.
