ChatGPT May Soon Access Your Work Tools and Record Meetings

OpenAI is quietly testing powerful new features that could make ChatGPT much more useful in the workplace. One key upgrade involves support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source standard that allows apps to securely share real-time data with ChatGPT. This would let the AI access live, task-specific information — like bug reports, market data, or design files — without needing retraining or uploads, enabling smarter, more accurate assistance across industries.
Additionally, OpenAI is working on a “Record” feature for live meetings. Hidden code in the ChatGPT mobile app reveals plans for tools like live audio recording, transcription, and meeting summaries. Users could “drag to talk,” pause/resume audio, and receive quick post-meeting recaps. The app includes privacy safeguards, like permission requests and consent reminders, signaling a serious move into productivity and collaboration tools — potentially rivaling Microsoft Teams’ Copilot.
