MAGA Women Are So Far Right They’re Ready To Give Up the Vote

At Turning Point USA’s women’s conference, attendees pushed trad wife fantasies, anti-trans panic and a vision of America that sounds closer to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’

Anytime a white nationalist organization such as Turning Point USA has a conference, you know there’s going to be enough stupidity to make my brain ache.

But still, I looked at a CNBC report about Turning Point USA’s women’s conference in San Antonio, Texas, and yes, it was full of stupidity, blatant racism and enough anti-feminism to send women back to the 19th century.

CNBC reporter Katie Simpson spent time at the recent Turning Point USA conference and interviewed several attendees. However, not all of them were happy with the political state of affairs.

Trad Wives Against Democracy

Savannah Stone, a trad wife, said she wasn’t happy with Trump.

“The people who voted for Trump were just very fed up. Both my husband and I are really disappointed,” Stone said.

However, Stone put forward a controversial point of view that was frequently repeated at the conference: Women shouldn’t vote.

“I don’t think women should vote. Anyway, if somebody asked me if the government was like, ‘OK, if we could have a more conservative country if all women gave up their vote,’ I would gladly give up my right to vote to have a more conservative country,” Stone said.

The tradwife movement is an online movement of women who portray themselves as 1950s women who stay home, look good and bake for their husbands. However, Salon columnist Amanda Marcotte has dissected it and said it’s all about self-promotion, not reality.

“Tradwives are a silly online fantasy and, in many cases, overt propaganda,” Marcotte wrote.

She also pointed out that, in the real world, women are not turning their backs on decades of progress. More women are embracing financial independence, delaying motherhood and choosing single life over unsatisfactory relationships. She also pointed out that there have been several scandals in the trad wife movement in which people who portray themselves as trad wives don’t live up to their images.

A Handmaid’s Tale Protest

Another attendee at the conference said she hoped she could persuade liberal women to move away from their views. Brooke Foxworthy promoted some of the most ignorant and ridiculous points of view, but then again, I’m sure she’s a MAGA voter, and that comes with the territory.

She said she wanted to vote for a party that “wasn’t going to make her son cut off his penis” and wasn’t going to be negative toward white people. What party is she talking about?

However, there was strife and protest outside the convention, and some of the counterprotesters dressed up as characters from “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

That book and show were supposed to be a warning, not a blueprint!

However, the views of the Turning Point USA conference attendees seem to be very far from mainstream America, and many of them admitted they’re swimming against the tide.

There were also protests at the convention, which was headlined by Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk.

One protester even made it inside the convention to denounce Turning Point’s alliance with the Trump administration, which has protected powerful men who were named in the Epstein files.
