It started with frustration

I practiced hard for the BMAT entry exam, I wanted to study Graduate Entry Medicine. Each year the exam came around and my score wasn’t quite as good as it should be. Revising was hard and I wondered if I had sourced the right materials, of course it is a deliberately difficult and time pressured exam. The multiple choice answer include the “easy mistake” you can make, like forgetting to change your units and spatial reasoning reasoning makes my head spin.

There is a temptation to wonder if I’m just not up to the task, lacking in the required intelligence. But I’m a scientist so surely I have the requisite brain power for the task?

By the third year it was getting really frustrating. Well…I didn’t actually do the exam during the pandemic, although I did register. There were no apps (Why are there no BMAT Apps?), I bought courses, I studied. Then I found out I was dyslexic….ohhhh okay, maybe that explains things a bit.

At least now I know what I am dealing with.
