What’s an anime that completely changed your expectations halfway through?

I love when an anime makes me think I know exactly where the story is going… and then completely flips everything upside down.

For me, **Re:Zero** was one of those series. I expected a typical isekai adventure, but the psychological struggles, character growth, and plot twists took the story in a much darker and more emotional direction than I expected.

Another one that surprised me was **Attack on Titan**. What started as a survival story eventually became something much bigger, with mysteries and revelations that changed how I viewed the entire series.

I’ve been exploring and comparing different anime stories recently, and it’s interesting how some shows rely on huge plot twists while others slowly change the tone until you realize you’re watching something completely different from what you started.

What anime caught you completely off guard?
