Puyuan Weaving Light Theater: A Symphony of Millisecond Precision and Ancient Heritage

The Vision: Space as Narrative

Located in the historic Puyuan Fashion Town, the Weaving Light Theater is a digital landmark that redefines immersive space. By synthesizing “Spatial Computing” with “Perceptual Interaction,” the project transforms 1,000 years of weaving culture into a multi-dimensional sensory experience. The goal: to move from “Passive Watching” to “Active Participation.”

The Technical Core: Dual-Server Synergy

To handle the immense computational load, we deployed a Master-Slave Dual Server Architecture. This separation of concerns ensures that the visual output remains rock-solid while the interaction remains fluid.

• The Master (Playback): Controls 14 high-lumen projectors with frame-level synchronization.
• The Slave (Interaction): Processes real-time radar sensor data and runs the AI vision algorithms.

Key Innovations

• 14-Projector Frame-Sync: Achieving a synchronization delay of less than 5ms across 14 units. Combined with mirror reflections, the visuals extend beyond physical boundaries, creating a “layered” depth that mimics the textures of ancient textiles.
• Real-Time Radar Interaction: Utilizing a Spout high-speed data interface, the system captures audience movement at over 100Hz. With an internal latency of less than 3ms, the “Light and Shadow Pinball” interaction feels instantaneous.
• Cultural Texture Mapping: 3D dynamic rendering recreates the intricate patterns of traditional silk weaving, allowing visitors to “weave” light through their gestures.
