I can taste the essence of you the air still lingers in a cloak of your scent I’m trying to dim the thought of you to move along with the currents of life Isn't that what's expected of me? I'm trying not to be saddened with the memory of you

the warmth of your gaze and the assurance of your presence is all my yearning heart ever wanted you were and will always be the only home I feel truly safe in you remain still even now you’re gone

Poet’s note: The title of this poem came to me out of nowhere. It had to be let out. It’s inspired by a widow who'd lost the love of her life. I’ve never had a love of my life, and I'm not a widow. Yet maybe these words will land dearly in someone’s heart.
