Every day, every journey, every high and low — Zubeen Da was there.

Whenever I travel and miss home, it’s his voice that makes me feel at home.

He wasn’t just a singer. He was our guide, our voice, our inspiration, our strength. His courage gave us hope. He was a man who followed his heart and lived on his own terms — and that inspired me a lot.

I know many of you who aren’t from Assam might not be able to relate — but this is a massive loss for us. We didn’t just lose an artist. We lost someone who united us… who stood for us, always — no matter the risk.

His one call could bring the whole of Assam together.

His words, his lyrics — they healed, they inspired. They gave our lives meaning.

He really cared for us. He never divided. Never discriminated.

He could’ve just chased money or stayed silent — but he didn’t. Instead, he chose to fight for his people, selflessly.

He stood with us, even when it meant standing against power and risking his own life.

That’s the kind of person he was. Our Zubeen Da.

He recorded more than 38,000 songs in 40 different languages.

During a show, while singing one of his most popular songs, Mayabini, he had said, “If I die, this song will be played all over Assam.”

And we did.

The whole of Assam cried and sang together — Mayabini ratir bukut…

We’ll cry. We’ll take time to heal. But we will never forget. His legacy will live on. And the next generation will carry his voice forward.
