The Fight Against Drugs Is a National and Religious Duty

The fight against drugs is not only the responsibility of the government or security forces, it is a duty shared by all of us. Schools, religious leaders, intellectuals, lawyers, families, and the media all have an important role to play in protecting society from this growing danger.

Drugs are one of the greatest threats facing humanity today. They destroy lives, damage both the body and the mind, break apart families, and weaken society as a whole. Drug dealers and traffickers often make illegal profits from the suffering of others, caring only about money while destroying the future of young people and communities. In many ways, this is a silent form of terrorism against citizens and the country. It is against the law, against morality, and against the teachings of all heavenly religions.

The harm caused by drugs is not only physical. The psychological effects can be devastating. Drug addiction can lead to anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and serious behavioural problems. In some cases, people lose control of their actions and become a danger to themselves and those around them.

The impact on society is equally serious. Drug abuse is closely linked to rising crime, theft, violence, and road accidents. Families suffer emotionally and financially, and entire communities can become unstable because of widespread addiction and drug trafficking. Many parents now live in fear for the future of their children.

Islam places great importance on protecting human life, dignity, and العقل (intellect). The religion teaches us to protect faith, life, family, intellect, and property. For this reason, Islam forbids anything that harms the body or mind, including all kinds of drugs, whether natural or chemical. Drugs bring destruction, corruption, and suffering, which is why they are clearly prohibited.

This is why mosques, schools, cultural centres, and media organisations must take this issue seriously. They should raise awareness, educate young people, and support efforts to fight drug abuse and trafficking. Everyone must work together to protect Kurdish youth and defend Kurdistan from the damage that drugs continue to cause.

The future of any nation depends on its young people. Protecting them from drugs means protecting the future of society itself.
