Scare Them Stupid

I’ve written about ***DSA, democratic socialism, socialism, communism, and all the other isms [people think they understand after reading three angry posts. ](https://medium.com/the-left-is-right/the-argument-you-invented-6261b4940fa0)***Now a conservative polling firm has put the red scare con in writing.

co/efficient told House Republicans to “do your best to connect all three together” and “let the family name carry the alarm.” That family name is communism, the word they know will scare people before they stop to think.

There’s the whole damn scam. Mix different political ideas together, slap “communist” on anyone who won’t follow the Republican Party line or fall in behind Dimwit-Tiny-TACO-Man Trump, and repeat it until lazy people repeat it for them.

This isn’t a serious discussion of what Marx and Engels wrote, what Lenin turned it into, or how Stalin, Mao, and other dictators twisted those ideas into brutal systems of control. House Republicans don’t give a damn about any of that. They want the scare label.

Plenty of people know almost nothing about these ideas and still act like they know every damn thing. Reading takes effort. Checking facts takes even more effort. Repeating the bullshit takes seconds.

co/efficient and House Republicans are counting on people who refuse to read, check, or think past the scare label. That feeds willful ignorance and paranoia, then turns MAGA dimwits into Republican mouthpieces.

They have nothing worth running on, so this is what they’re selling.
