After Nirvana’s “Nevermind” grabbed Generation X by the throat, shook off the cobwebs, shoved its middle finger in the face of the world and became one of the most played, most successful albums of all time, the burning question was, “Who would be the lucky bastard to produce their next album?”

Nirvana had producers and engineers beating down their studio door but when Cobain & Co. received this letter in the mail explaining why a sound engineer from Chicago would be the best person for the job, it sealed the deal.

This letter will go down in history as one of the most iconic Generation X moves of all time.
