Mabel sat by the sea in one of Haven’s bikinis. She could not remember the last time she had left the country and sat by a poolside or the sea. She sipped an Aperol spritz that she watched Odile make for her.

She was not sure what to think about the villa or the fact that it was still bright outside after 9 and Haven had not been in contact with her. Mabel was not sure she could trust Matthieu — how did she know that he was telling her the truth and that he had not done something to Haven?

Haven was so evil she could be in the damned villa and be joking. She was always joking. Trying to loosen Mabel up.

Mabel was very loosened as she took off her bikini top, no one seemed to be coming her way and it was unusually hot. Of course that was the moment Matthieu would come by. Nonchalantly she looked up at him,

“Is she here yet?”

“No, Mabel, there is something I have to tell you.”

She had been waiting for the other shoe to drop.

“What?” she said and braced herself for anything as she sipped her spritz.
