The cold, gentle breeze blows through my hair, my skin tingles at its touch. The night is so serene that I can even hear the faint sound of a plane overhead. This type of peacefulness also reflected in the night sky that reveals its majestic beauty, fully unveiling the scattered dust above shining in their own way.

Sometimes, we rush through our lives. As we grow older, we always feel like we have to keep up with everyone else—handling responsibilities here, dealing with worries there, trying to carry everything all at once. It is indeed a part of living through life. But sometimes, amidst that pace, it is so rare for us to notice moments that mean so much.

As I stare at the night sky, I cannot help but reminisce. During my teenage years, I used to go outside whenever I felt like I wanted to breathe, and simply stare at the sky above. I would look at the vast canvas above, splattered with these shiny objects twinkling in their own light—the stars.

Ever since, I have always found stars comforting. Just by staring at them, sitting somewhere quietly, you begin to feel as though you are engulfed by the universe’s beauty. A person in her twenties looking at the vastness of the cosmos, carrying her worries about tomorrow, you somehow begin to feel your own inadequacy. I am just one single entity who happens to exist in this lifetime, wondering if I could create a story of my own someday. While people chase other things—which I somehow will have to return to tomorrow—I am here at the moment, simply trying to get a hold of my existence, trying to grasp my own inferiority, and thinking about how I could live life according to the things I love and the happiness I want to carry.

People appear and they eventually leave. Some find their reason of existence while others feel lost. In this existence, the sky has watched over them and somehow, they gaze at the stars too, trying to take a grasp on this often-mysterious universe. I sometimes wonder how each person has felt upon gazing at it across different epochs—what can a poet tell about the stars? How about kings? Warriors? Or even dreamers? The kids in areas where gunfire and survival are part of everyday life, do they look at the stars too and dream about the future? Or those people who have not yet found their own homes? How do they feel about the stars, given that each one of us possesses stories inside us?

But right at this moment, I want to silence all other thoughts I have. I do not have to keep seeking all the answers. The sky does not ask me for that.

Right now, I am still here, wondering about endless possibilities—of things that may or may not happen.

The breeze continues to pass through, as if reminding me to breathe, to savor moments of silence before I continue moving through time. And this is what winning moments feel like as well: when you can just simply be.

Tomorrow is tomorrow, while I have this present to savor too.
