Fate’s Unexpected Contract

Chapter 1: The Betrayal

The evening was supposed to be a casual celebration, but for Sutang, it turned into a nightmare. Her step-sister, in an attempt to humiliate her, conspired with Mr. Chan and made sure she drank far beyond her limit.

“Drink, Sutang. If you don’t drink, you won’t appear sincere. Only then will I consider you for the project,” Mr. Chan urged with a manipulative smile.

Naïve and eager to prove herself, Sutang gulped down glass after glass. Her head spun, her vision blurred, and soon, she found herself being pulled towards an unknown direction. Realizing the danger, she fought her way out of Mr. Chan’s grasp and stumbled down the hall, seeking refuge in the nearest room. Little did she know, she had just barged into CEO Lu Zhongju’s suite.

Chapter 2: A Night of Fate

Inside, CEO Lu Zhongju was quietly drinking, lost in thoughts. The sudden intrusion of a drunk woman startled him, but as she collapsed on his bed, mumbling, “Mister Lu… you look so handsome tonight,” he felt an old wound reopen. His eyes widened as he murmured, “Shiaoshun?” A name from his past.

Sutang, lost in her inebriation, flirted shamelessly, causing the usually composed CEO to lose his self-control. One thing led to another, and by the time dawn broke, Sutang woke up in an unfamiliar bed, her heart pounding with fear.

“This isn’t a dream… this actually happened!” she whispered in shock.

Seeing her panicked expression, Lu Zhongju smirked and pulled her closer. “You used me last night and now you want to escape? Let’s get married, then.”

“Are you insane?!” she stammered.

“Tell me your conditions,” he stated firmly. “We marry, but we don’t interfere in each other’s lives.”

Confused and overwhelmed, Sutang fled the scene, unaware that fate had more surprises in store for her.

Chapter 3: Desperate Choices

Reality hit hard when she returned to the hospital. The doctor handed her a bill. “ICU charges — 60,000 Yuan. Pay immediately.”

“Give me two days,” Sutang pleaded, but the nurse coldly replied, “This isn’t a charity, Miss.”

Her mother, frail and weak, insisted, “Don’t get into more debt for my sake. Your father already gambled away everything.”

Tears welled in her eyes as she promised, “I’ll handle everything, Mom. I have a job now.”

But how? Where would she find such a huge amount?

Then, the memory of Lu Zhongju’s proposal returned to her. Hesitantly, she approached him. “Is your offer still valid?”

His cold gaze assessed her before he placed a contract in front of her. “You hesitated. The deal has changed.”

Panicked, she grabbed his wrist. “I’ll do it! But I have conditions. I need 60,000 Yuan, and you won’t touch me.”

Lu Zhongju chuckled. “Let’s see how well you keep your end of the deal.”

Chapter 4: A Contract Sealed by Wine

The wedding was a private affair, merely a transaction. But the real test came when Lu Zhongju’s grandmother invited them for dinner.

“Drink with me, my dear granddaughter-in-law,” she cooed, handing Sutang her homemade wine.

Under the grandmother’s watchful eye, they played the role of a loving couple. However, after a few drinks, Sutang, emboldened by alcohol, traced her fingers over Lu Zhongju’s face. “Your lips… your eyes… you’re dangerously handsome.”

Lu Zhongju’s self-control shattered.

Chapter 5: Office Whispers

The next day, exhaustion weighed heavily on Sutang as she stepped into the office. Whispers followed her.

“Did you hear? She got promoted because she’s sleeping with the boss.”

“She’s been in a luxury car. Probably got another man on the side.”

Her friend, Ou Lei, tried to comfort her, but anger boiled inside Sutang. Unable to take the rumors, she flung her lunch at the gossiping colleagues.

Director Wu arrived at the scene. “Sutang, causing trouble again?”

“Why should I apologize? They spread lies about me!” she argued.

“If it’s a lie, prove it. Otherwise, everyone knows you’re a mistress,” one of the women sneered.

Sutang smirked. “You want proof? What if I tell Director Wu’s wife about his real mistress?”

Panic flashed across Wu’s face, but he recovered quickly, raising his hand to strike her. Before he could, a firm grip stopped him.

“Enough,” Lu Zhongju’s voice cut through the tension. “This is how you manage the office?” He turned to the gossiping employees. “You’re right — people who ruin the company’s image shouldn’t be here. So pack your things and leave.”

Shocked silence followed as he turned to Sutang. “Come to my office. We need to talk.”

Chapter 6: A Battle of Wits

In his office, Sutang sat defiantly in his chair. “You didn’t have to defend me.”

“I did it for the company,” he replied smoothly.

“Liar. You don’t want anyone insulting your wife,” she challenged.

“You’re still drunk from last night,” he teased, leaning closer. “Should we set clearer rules about our… arrangement?”

Sutang’s heart pounded as she realized — this wasn’t just a contract anymore. It was a dangerous game of power, desire, and emotions. And she wasn’t sure who would win.
