A Vulnerable Update on My Tech Journey: Pivoting Towards Product Management

This isn’t the update I initially planned to share, but sometimes, honesty is the most powerful starting point. My goal was to celebrate my achievement of becoming a Salesforce Certified Admin by April, a path I embarked on last year with the ALX Salesforce program. However, balancing two remote jobs proved an impossible juggle, demanding more time than I could give, and I ultimately had to withdraw after just one month.

The struggle was undeniably real. I grappled with feelings of failure, and the anxiety of not transitioning into a new career path became overwhelming. It even meant turning down a paid gig for a Salesforce admin role, which stung like a missed opportunity. Yet, life is full of unexpected twists, and sometimes a pivot is exactly what you need.

I’ve since embraced a new direction, enrolling in the AltSchool Africa Product Management course. I’m now four weeks into this year-long program, and my determination to make the most of it is unwavering. The journey has already brought a welcome surprise: a 40% scholarship from Bybit, significantly easing the financial burden.

As I continue on this path, I’m actively seeking internship or volunteer opportunities in Product Management. I aim to apply my learning in real-world scenarios, gain hands-on experience, and learn directly from seasoned product managers. Additionally, with my background in Development Studies, I’m deeply passionate about giving back to the community, particularly through strategy and program development. I'd welcome opportunities to volunteer my skills with relevant organizations or initiatives.
