ON MOVING PLACES

Certain circumstances dictated a year and a half ago that I settle in a place called Serchhip, 120 kms away from my hometown. As time went by in this seemingly quaint and tranquil town, the place has astoundingly grown on me. I do often remind myself that where we live is unique and delightfully quirky unlike anywhere else in the world. Sometimes, it’s easy to take for granted what I see and encounter everyday because it’s routine, familiar and mundane. I’m now learning to slow down, take things one day at a time and appreciate and cherish the mundane every day subtleties and nuances of my little abode and surrounding here in Serchhip, because it is extraordinary and special. Maybe it’s the calm and serene escape from the buzzing city, the true Mizo hospitality that has been extended by the people, or the slew of breathtaking people I’ve learned to love here otherwise; either way I am thoroughly inspired, grateful, happy, feeling more words than this little box will allow.
