Driving Innovation & Smart Technologies Forward through Regional Opportunities

The Pleiades IoT Innovation Cluster is excited to announce the submission of five proposals to the Research-Innovation Action 2021–2027, a crucial program in which aims to connect research and innovation with entrepreneurship within Greece.

These five proposals, including Startup Islands and DigiPort aim to strengthen innovation and smart technologies in regional areas, leveraging the power of FIWARE, an open-source platform for building smart solutions, digital twins and data spaces — shaping the world of tomorrow.

Startup Islands: Fostering Social Innovation for Smart Islands

Our ‘Startup Islands’ proposal aims to create a standardized model for social innovation for smart islands. This model, designed for scalability, focuses on fostering a collaborative ecosystem that empowers local communities. By adopting a place-centered approach, we aim to create innovative solutions that are sustainable and user-driven, addressing the critical areas of civil society, political structures, environment, and long-term viability.

DigiPort: Ensuring Port Infrastructure Resilience with Advanced Technology

Our second proposal, ‘DigiPort,’ focuses on safeguarding port infrastructure resilience through cutting-edge technology. This project leverages an advanced robotic platform in conjunction with digital analysis tools and captivating data visualization. By implementing these solutions, we can proactively inspect and monitor port infrastructure, ensuring its continued strength and functionality.

Leveraging FIWARE for Scalable Solutions

As a FIWARE iHub, having access to the FIWARE open-source technology, data models, and smart solutions & services will allow for efficiency and ease of access to developing scalable and innovative solutions for these proposals. Additionally, being part of the vibrant FIWARE community provides us with valuable resources, expertise, and opportunities for collaboration.
