Maybe It Was All for Something Good
Maybe It Was All for Something Good

People often say, “If it’s not good, it’s not the end. It is for something better.”
I don’t know if I believed that before.
Because sometimes, when something doesn’t work out, you don’t immediately see the better thing waiting for you. You just see what you lost.
You question everything.
You wonder if you made the wrong decision. If you could have done something differently. If you should have tried harder. If maybe you were supposed to stay where you were instead of moving towards something unknown.
You keep trying to connect the dots while you’re still living through the mess.
And when the dots don’t connect, it gets frustrating.
Frustrating enough that sometimes you just want to put your head down on the table and stop thinking for a while.
But then, sometimes, you look back.
And suddenly something that made absolutely no sense at the time starts making sense.
Years ago, my parents got me in ICSE board.
At that time, I used to hate everything about it.
And somehow, I still enjoyed it.
Those two feelings existed together.
I could hate the situation and still love parts of the experience. I could be frustrated with where I was and still be grateful for the things I was learning, the people I was meeting, the things I was experiencing.
And now, when I look back at it, I genuinely think:
Maybe it was for something.
Maybe I just couldn’t see it then.
Maybe there are things in our lives that don’t feel promising when we’re living them, but become promising when we look back.
And maybe that’s the part we forget.
We expect everything to make sense immediately.
We want to know why something happened while we’re still standing in the middle of it.
But life doesn’t always work like that.
Sometimes you only understand the reason years later.
Sometimes you don’t understand it at all.
And maybe that’s okay too.
Because not every unexpected thing is a sign that you’ve taken the wrong path.
Maybe sometimes life is just moving you somewhere you haven’t imagined yet.
So if something unexpected happens, and it doesn’t go the way you wanted it to, maybe don’t immediately decide that it’s the end of something good.
Take a breath.
Look around.
Try to move on.
Try another option.
Maybe there is something else waiting for you that you haven’t considered because you were too busy trying to make the first option work.
Maybe the universe, or life, or whatever you believe in, is trying to protect you from something you can’t see yet.
And maybe one day you’ll look back and think,
Oh.
So that’s why that didn’t work out.
I think that’s what I am learning now.
Not everything that leaves my life is a loss.
Not everything that doesn’t work out is a failure.
Some things are simply things I wasn’t meant to hold on to.
And maybe, just maybe, some of the things I thought were taking something away from me were actually making space for something better.
Maybe it was all for something good.
I just hadn’t reached that part of the story yet.
And if it isn’t good right now, maybe the story isn’t over.
Maybe you deserve something much better.
Maybe there is so much more to it.
