📖 Who Is Prof. C. Sivalingarasa?

Born on 16 December 1945, in Karaveddy, Jaffna — Prof. Sivalingarasa is not just a Tamil academic. He is an era, a walking archive, a bridge between ancient Tamil wisdom and contemporary Tamil scholarship.

From the earliest roots of his education, mentored by giants like Kandamurugesan and Pandithar K. Veerakathi, he rose through Tamil academia — not just by climbing ladders but by building them for others.

His seminal work, “வடமராட்சி கல்விச் சிறப்புகள் மற்றும் இலக்கியச் செல்வங்கள்” (Educational & Literary Wealth of Vadamarachchi), began as his postgraduate thesis and bloomed into a cultural record that today still informs and inspires.

He served with pride and impact as Reader in Tamil at the University of Jaffna, guiding generations of scholars with clarity, conviction, and care.

📚 A Life Lived for Letters

When we spoke, I asked what drives him still, at eighty. He smiled gently and said:

“தமிழ் ஒரு உயிர்… அதை ஊட்டுவதும் பாதுகாப்பதும் என் கடமை.” (Tamil is a living being… Nourishing and protecting it is my duty.)

He’s authored, mentored, researched, lectured — and still shows up. Not just at conferences, but in spirit, wherever Tamil learning is alive.

In a time where everything is fast, AI-written, social-fed, and scrollable — meeting someone like Prof. Sivalingarasa felt like meeting time itself.
