Finding Beauty in Change

Some plants don’t demand attention. They simply exist – quietly, patiently, growing one leaf at a time.

That’s what drew me to this ginseng ficus.

Its thick, sculptural roots carry a sense of age and resilience, while the vivid yellow leaves suggest a new season unfolding. Together, they remind me that growth isn’t always loud or dramatic. Often, it’s found in subtle changes that happen day after day.

When creating this artwork, I wanted to preserve that feeling. Rather than pursuing realism, I focused on simplifying shapes, emphasizing bold outlines, and allowing color to express emotion. The bright yellows symbolize hope and renewal, while the deep reds introduce warmth, strength, and the traces of time.

Minimal compositions invite the viewer to slow down. A single plant against a clean background creates space – not just visually, but mentally. In a busy world, even a small moment of stillness can feel meaningful.

Nature has a quiet way of teaching us that change is constant. Leaves appear, fade, and return again. Growth is rarely linear, yet it never truly stops.

Perhaps that’s why plants continue to inspire me. They remind us that becoming who we are doesn’t require rushing. It only requires continuing.
