Lyrics To Live By

I love music; I thrive on it. I cry every time I hear the piano solo melody in “She’s a Rainbow,” the perfectly timed version of “Dear Prudence” with Jerry Garcia, and all my life, every time I physically see James Taylor. These days, I cry at every live show I attend, which is why I prefer to go alone. I don’t mind crying in front of strangers, I kind of even like it.

I dream scroll through my favorite artists and analyze their lyrics. They profess what I obsess over. Strength, fear, love, self-expression, loneliness, suffering, life, death, after death…

They inspire me and make me sing, dance, laugh and cry wherever I go. Come to think of it, when I walk or drive around with my music, homeless people I pass by like it, which makes me wonder what else we have in common, or if theres something they know that I don’t.

I know these players only love me while they’re playing, but I like to think they write their songs especially for me, like Grace Kelley said. I mean, how sweet of Mick to have seen me dressed in blue, how did Isaac know that I’m never lonesome when I’m by myself, and thank you Graham for encouraging me to do what I want to do.

Thanks for reading, and wish me luck, because this might not work. Neil is right again, it’s the woman in me that wants to play this game, (I dont know how many men would try this) because right here right now, you have found somebody who can do this job for free.
