Yost on bunting

Royals manager Ned Yost fielded some questions from the media on Saturday at Kauffman Stadium before the second game of the three-game set against the Oakland Athletics.
Yost reinforced the notion that the Royals’ hitters have worked hard on their bunting in 2018, and has seen success in the ones laid down by guys like Jon Jay and Alcides Escobar. He went on to explain that he supports the players’ decision to bunt or not bunt, depending on the situation.
Yost said he disagrees with the notion of fearing the “threat” of a home run, and used Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas, who hit 39 home runs in 598 plate appearances in 2017, as his example of how even the best power hitters in baseball can only hit so many out of the yard.
