HOW CHANGE FOUND ITS LANGUAGE
During the time of the Plague, the university at Cambridge was closed. A young student, returned to his home and spent his time thinking and observing nature.
In those days, mathematics could describe shapes and numbers, but it could not properly explain how things change. Newton started thinking about motion. He wondered how objects move and how we can measure change at a single moment.
One day, while sitting under a tree, he saw an apple fall. This simple event made him think deeply. He asked himself how and why things change with time.
Newton began to imagine that quantities are always changing, not fixed. He tried to study very small changes instead of large ones. He thought that if we understand these small changes, we can understand the whole motion.
He also realized that many small changes can be added together to form a complete result. These ideas slowly developed into a new method of mathematics.
This method later became known as calculus. It helped scientists understand motion, forces, and many natural processes.
Newton’s work teaches us that great ideas often start from simple observations and deep thinking.
By asking questions and trying to understand them, we can discover new things. And sometimes, a simple question can change the way we see the world.
