Go With the Flow

By Michael Erlewine
Well, winter in western Michigan is closing in. The frost has come and is here. It’s 17 degrees above zero tonight. I managed to get the storm windows up in the four doors of our house and the two main doors in our center. Yesterday I drained and struggled with two of our three 100-foot hoses to get them in a coil and down the basement. I used large zip ties for the beasts.
I put a bunch of Datura (Jimson Weed) roots, plus some Dahlia bulbs, into a box of vermiculite and stored them in a cool place. Things like that.
I also dusted off, and washed down, the Herman-Miller 10-ft table in our dharma center in preparation for coating the wood surface with “Renaissance,” a micro-crystalline wax polish after it is all dry. What else?
Of course, I’m all the time fiddling with photography as some of you know. As to what’s going on in my mind, other than food and health issues, let’s take a look.
Well, I have been carefully watching the return of very strong (X rated) solar flares, that have appeared in a row, extruding concurrent CMEs (Corona Mass Ejection) that are impacting the Earth direction or close to it. One particular large sunspot has torqued and is full of tension. Who knows how that is impacting us personally. I can feel it.
I posted some days ago some of the etheric musings I wander through when I walk out to the edge of consciousness and rest in that. It is almost nonsense (non sense), but not quite. I “trip the light fantastic” as the old saying goes.
And for those curious about my dharma practice, I have reached a sort of plateau — vast, flat, and trackless — a point of no return. I can’t go back or return from whence I came, and I’m at the surface and treading water. Here we are again talking about the ephemeral, will-o-the-wisp, going on.
My musing is nothing more than an attempt to put into words what cannot be said in words, but even so, might engender an insight or two.
These ‘ennui-like’ words are not meant to confuse or misguide but are the natural result of states of mind that are ongoing and by me not yet resolved. They are not some kind of Limbo, but rather natural formlessness that sticks to me like glue and that I have to work through at my own pace. Do I like it?
Well, pretty much. It contains a clarity that does not dim, yet also a sense of being stretched ever so thin and getting thinner. It’s like the birth sac I used to see when raising puppies, something the mother dog bites through and stomachs. Mother Nature is still chewing on it; I’m trying to cooperate.
I also have most everything I need except a chance for this endless attenuation, this expansion and extension of my very being to reach a point of evaporation and disappear. It’s something so very sticky that it’s difficult to just let go. Every state of mind has some cleanup required.
At my age, I’m doing my best to cooperate with the forces of nature, keep my head down, work with my instincts, and gut-feel my way along. Going with the flow.

For a limited time, I am doing a few Zoom astrology readings. If interested, please email me with the subject “READINGS.”

As Bodhicitta is so precious,
May those without it now create it,
May those who have it not destroy it,
And may it ever grow and flourish.
