My opinion of the October 2025 issues of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.

I have been getting curious about which magazine is overall better. In this blog I hope to make you realise which magazine you like better as well. I have all 3 magazines to help show which one is better overall. These magazines are all the British versions meaning they could vary between countries.

This month vouge has been getting a lot of attraction mainly on TikTok. My FYP is full of people showing the new October issues which has Raye on the cover. If you don’t know, who is she is a singer located in the Uk who has seen a rise in fans these past years. However, some of the attraction of Vogue lovers have also come from the free notebook given. There are three to collect which makes fans want to collect them all. This can make fans buy a surplus amount which they don’t need just to have. I have to say the cover is very pretty and it reminds me of the cover Bella Hadid which was the June 2025 issue. The contract of the dark tones and pink make it the Vogue lettering stand out. There are two samples given which are the Giorgio Armani Si perfume which is the new version and Yves Saint Laurent Myself perfume. By having one for both men and women it means that they can fit a wider range of customers. In my opinion when you buy vouge you buy a dream and escape from reality, the reason for this opinion it promotes high value brands which are well known to the regular person. By having well-known brands like Chanel, Dior, tiffany and co and many others it makes the reader dream of having them but there is a huge distance between dreaming and owning it. But one thing I do like about vogue is how they have letters from the people who are on the cover, this allows the reader to see an insight on the person on the cover which this month is Raye. Another thing I love is the editor’s eye, which a mood boards, it creates more connection between the writer and the consumer. Reading more in the magazine I have seen brands which are accessible to the everyday consumer like simple and M&S have had an appearance, could this mean Vogue be trying to relate more to the consumer?

I think by having Raye on the over was an amazing choice, this is because most people recognise her or know her. And by having her on the cover it means more people are likely to want this issue. On page 179 Raye states how, she was at a restaurant writing in her little book. The book which was given by Vogue to the customers a freebie could be there to represent Raye more, and how she enjoys writing. This elevates Vogue as they have added a notebook which makes them see considerate of their audience.

The notebook is cute its cover is a vintage aesthetic; there are 3 to collect and I have the orange one. The notebooks have no lines meaning it can be used for many things including becoming a scrap book, the paper feels like printer paper. I’m not sure how good it is and if ink leaks through but when I do, I will say. The first page has VOGUE written on it in a grey shade. The paper is a crème colour and not a bright white. I think Vogue have done that to go with the vintage vibe of the cover. Overall, I think it is a good notebook.

I have had Vogue before, but this month’s issues feel elevated and better then before. I have the January issue and the June issue of this year. I remember them not having any samples however this issue dose which makes me feel like it is worth the money, especially since it also has the notebook. But by Vogue improving in my opinion, it makes me wonder if big changes will happen in the upcoming year.

However, is Vogue having an identity crisis and losing it branding. A video from @kensingtoncopy who a luxury brand strategist is has made a video about vouge wanting to change from being accessible for its customers to now becoming a premium magazine company like wallpaper. She then goes on to say that Vogue main sales are from supermarket impulse buys and how it for the people who dream and aspire to have the high-class life. In my opinion by Vogue changing and trying to appeal to the rich they lose the customers who they have had. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdsTRtMV/

Overall, I think having Vogue is not just for the enjoyment of reading, but it shows to other how you know more things. Buying Vogue is not just for the magazine but I also think people buy it for the experience and the boost of dopamine they get every time it arrives. I also think that Vogue creates an aesthetic to the consumer making them more lily to buy it next month. By Vogue being having a new issue every month it almost creates a competition between fans to see who can get the issue the quickest.

I have never read both Harper’s Bazaar or Elle, so I have no expectations or pass knowing of what is inside like I did for Vogue.

First, I will talk about Harper’s Bazaar. From the cover I like the way the title and Dua Lipa’s jewellery match, it creates a cohesive look. I also love that Dua Lipa is on the cover, this make more people buy Bazaar as they know or have seen Dua before.

Like vogue I can see that Bazaar also has ads for high end brands like Chanel and Dior. But they also had brands like Harry Winston which I don’t remember seeing on vogue. This could mean that Bazaar is trying to differentiate from other magazines. I also like how Bazaar has editor’s choice; it helps to bring insight of the vibes and likes of the editor. I also like how they have Bazaar style, which is a category which shows fashion ideas, this issue has “10 things we love”, and overall, the items all have texture and are a bolder statement. I like the way there are so many mood boards it helps to get the overall vibe of a product but if you don’t like them, it may make harder for you to like Bazar. I would say that Bazaar has way more photos and I enjoy that as helps to see details of the product. I have also seen the pictures are in my opinion prettier I am not sure why. I adore the way the mention Marie Antoinette and how much impact she has had one the fashion community. I also love in general how when there is large paragraph the decorate it will photos which match the topic. I also love how they have a makeup routine for specific looks it helps the consumer to know of the products are good and worth it. Bazaar also does this with skin care, hair care and body care as well as fragrances.

I think by having Dua on the cover it can help Bazaar to increase the amount of people buying their magazine this is because she is a well know person.

Overall, I love the way Bazaar writes but also the way they have a lot of mood boards and collages I personal love to make a collage every week to get the vibe of the week.

Last of all we cannot forget about Elle first of all I just want to say that I love the way they have four covers. I personally have the one the left side however I have seen the one on the right as well. From the cover I can tell that it is there 40th anniversary so a big congrats to Elle. I’m not sure if this was intentional but I love the way that each person’s hair matches the tittle. I like the way that Elle have 3 different people on the magazine, this shows inclusivity. However, it can make people excessively buy them all which is not necessarily as it thinks they each have the same content inside. By Elle having Lola Young the cover it can help to bring more people to buy Elle this is because people can recognise her from her songs which have trend in the year.

Elle only have one sample which is the new Miss Dior fragrance. I do love when they give out samples of a perfume or other things. Elle do have an editor’s letter which is good as it says a bit anything, in this issue it is about the Elle style awards but I personally like the editor’s mood board. However, I like the way Elle have an agenda section which gives recommendations on many things including what wear and eat. I like this as the consumer can try new things which they may have not though of. I love the style + shop sections as it gives the customers ideas on what to buy this season, it can also help if they have the item and do not know how to style it. There beauty section is also good having perfume recommendations but also overall beauty recommendations.

This is just for the 40th anniversary but I love the way they are celebrating and looking back on the overall main trends of each decade. I like how they put covers but also runways and celebrities from the time. This overall helps to capture more of the aesthetic of each time period. They solo did a section in the beauty and wellness sections capturing how makeup changed from 2020s — 1980s.

Overall, I like the way Elle have the agenda section as it can help to know what to buy or eat next or what to read. I like the way they mention books as well as I love both fashion and reading.

In conclusion if I had to choose one, I would choose Bazaar from the mood board to the way they present large paragraphs I love it. But please tell me your opinion and feelings about these magazines.

Thank you for reading!!
