The one thing Reminders couldn’t fix — until now

Missed calls kept slipping through. This two-tap trick finally stopped that.

I like to think I know Apple Reminders pretty well — I probably should, given that I wrote a book about it.

And yet, I keep learning new things.

That happened again this week, when I stumbled across a trick that closes a small but stubborn gap in my daily routine. I almost never forget anything, because I capture nearly everything in Reminders. Work tasks, personal to-dos, emails, quick comments on the fly. No one of that is a problem.

But missed calls? Those slip through regularly.

For some reason, my brain always thinks:

“I’ll call them back later.”

And then the day is gone. This is exactly where a new feature in iOS 26 comes in.

Here’s how it works:

Open the Phone app and switch to the Calls view at the bottom.

You’ll see your recent calls. Swipe left on any entry — a small blue clock icon appears. Tap it, and you can choose to be reminded in 1 hour, tonight, tomorrow, or at a custom time. If you pick the last option, a screen opens that looks just like creating a regular reminder in Reminders.

Add any details you want, then save with the blue checkmark in the top right.

That’s it, a perfectly normal reminder that makes sure you never forget a callback again. The people in your life will thank you.

This trick would have fit perfectly into my e-book Apple Reminders, Finally Simple. Unfortunately it didn’t make it in, I discovered it too late.
