Can a 63-Year-Old Woman Make It in This AI World?

Is there an OnlyFans for seniors?

cute little me :)

cute little me :)

I've been blogging for almost 10 years, and the blogging world has drastically changed in the last two years. So much so that I’m not even sure I can make it work anymore.

Actually, I can’t. I’ve been trying. Really hard, and I’m literally just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping some sticks.

It never does.

I’ll be honest — I didn’t see this coming.

When I started blogging, I struggled to find my groove. When I finally did, there was no stopping me. I loved writing about all things motivational and inspirational for women over 50.

That was my jam.

Traffic came in steadily each month. Earnings of around $3K a month were normal. My work wasn’t forced or desperate. It flowed easily. Pinterest was a great traffic driver. Was being the key word here.

Now, when you scroll through Pinterest, it’s one AI-sponsored ad after another. There goes that traffic.

Then a “helpful” update from Google slammed bloggers in 2023, then again in 2024 and 2025. After the 2023 one, I started losing hope. Earnings were dropping fast.

I started focusing my efforts on my YouTube channel and doing more video. While it still hasn’t made up for much of my lost blogging income, the YT earnings definitely are most welcome.

And of course, there’s Medium. My happy writing place that always ensures that I can at least pay my rent.

I’m not sure how much longer I can or should keep blogging. Nothing seems to be working, and I don’t think it’s a proper use of my time anymore.

But the stubborn Iva won’t give up hope.

I keep thinking, Oh, this blog is gonna get lots of traffic, or, Oh, this is the blog that will rock Pinterest. I just keep throwing spaghetti.

I question if there’s a place for this 63, almost 64-year-old, woman in the online space anymore. One thing is for certain: it’s not in blogging.

And I keep asking myself the same question.

What the hell am I supposed to do?

I don’t even know anymore (you can drop suggestions in the comments section — I’m all ears!). I’ve spent money on courses, more than I care to admit, to help me grow my business and “make five figures a month.”

That never happens.

This year I started a super fun and cute Fourthwall store. I thought, Hey, why not sell fun products? Turns out, it’s harder to get people to an online store when you don’t really have any traffic sources. They tell you to take out ads.

Great idea if you have money for that, which I don’t. I’m barely staying afloat as it is. I’m running out of ideas, patience and time.

I could check out OnlyFans to see if they accept seniors, but I mean, let’s be real — who wants to see an old lady’s feet?

What once was a decent place for people to share their knowledge and skills, help others, and make a good living is now a dumpster fire of AI gimmicks, videos, courses and guides.

Where do we fit in? Where do I fit in? I honestly don’t know anymore.

Some days I just stare at my computer monitor blankly, waiting for inspiration to hit. It rarely does. Nothing drives me.

Is this where I’m supposed to retire, grab a pair of knitting needles, and sit back and let the world go by? That sounds horribly boring. No offense to those who have chosen that life.

To each their own, right?

Trying to find your place in the online world as a senior is confusing and frustrating. I do my best to keep up with technology and the latest and greatest apps/fads/patterns, but somewhere along the way, I keep missing the mark.

Where DO I fit in?

Turns out, I don’t. No one does. We’re all just trying to stay afloat as humans in this Artificial Intelligence world that we knew was coming but never prepared for.

So, now what?

It’s hard to find joy in something that once set your soul on fire but has now become nothing more than a smouldering ember. And hopeless.

For now, I’ll just keep bleeding ink, pinning blogs that never get seen (thanks to AI content), uploading YouTube videos and waiting for my old age pension to come in.

And praying that some spaghetti sticks.
