My Spiritual Journey: From Seeking to Inner Transformation | Isha

How my quest for deeper meaning led me from confusion to clarity through yogic practices

I began my spiritual journey at the age of 20, driven by an unsettling sense that the material world could not offer the answers I was looking for. Life felt incomplete ,despite having what most would call a “normal” life, something deeper was missing.

In my search, I turned to spiritual books. Swami Vivekananda’s works were among my first companions, followed by the teachings of J. Krishnamurti and the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. Over the years, I followed a few gurus from India, hoping one of them would lead me to the clarity I was yearning for.

No matter how much I read , it felt like I wasn’t progressing. The words made sense intellectually, but my inner experience remained unchanged.

The Turning Point

Eventually, I began listening to Sadhguru. His words resonated, but once again, I struggled to implement them in my life. I got initiated into Shambhavi Mahamudra, but I couldn’t sustain the practice beyond 10 days.

Then came a major shift ,I enrolled in Hatha Yoga training. Committing to regular practice for a year, my body slowly started to transform. I could bend, sit, and hold postures with ease. Alongside this, something else shifted. I naturally transitioned to a vegetarian lifestyle. It wasn’t forced; it just felt like the right thing.

With this change in diet, I found that I could meditate and practice Hatha Yoga effortlessly. My body felt lighter, and my mind clearer. This physical and mental balance opened up something within me. I returned to Shambhavi Mahamudra, and this time, everything felt different.

Consistency Without Expectation

From that point onward, things began to shift subtly, yet powerfully. Practicing without expectations became the key. Over time, I integrated Surya Kriya and Angamardana into my routine.

  • Shambhavi Mahamudra + Surya Kriya became my ultimate combo balancing my energies and bringing moments of deep stillness and joy.
  • Angamardana, though intense in the beginning, transformed my body into something I never thought possible light, flexible, and full of vitality. The joy it brings is unmatched.

“You may practice for years, but transformation happens the moment you stop expecting and start experiencing.”

What’s Next?

The next step in my journey is to attend the Shoonya Meditation program offered by Isha Foundation. I feel ready to go deeper not with effort, but with openness.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: the journey is not about “getting somewhere.” It’s about being moment to moment, breath to breath.

No book or teaching alone can awaken you. But when you surrender to the process, something profound begins to unfold within.

Thank you, Sadhguru, for being the light that guided me inward.
