Christ our Treasure: Living Generously for His Kingdom

Thoughts about James 5:1–6

We live in a culture that constantly tells us to get more, keep more, and enjoy more. But James asks a question that cuts to the heart: Is my life centered on things — or on Christ?

This isn’t just about personal finances; it’s about kingdom priorities. Every decision we make with our resources declares what we value most. Will we cling to temporary treasures or invest in eternal ones?

1. Live Like Jesus Is Coming — Because He Is King

James warns against hoarding wealth, reminding us that judgment is coming for those who ignore God. But here’s the hope: Christ is coming too — not just as Judge, but as Savior and King.

2. Live to Give, Not to Hoard — Because Christ Gave All

If we belong to Him, our lives should reflect His heart. Scripture calls us to:

• Care for our families
• Help those in need
• Advance the gospel

3. Live to Serve Others With Your Wealth — Because Christ Served Us
