I spent the last few weeks fine-tuning a weird Dragonknight build, that will be forced to change in 2 days — So i am immortalising it here.

I’ve played ESO on and off (mostly on..) since the beta- the most enduring obsession for me has always been Fashion. To the point where it’s not just about the outfit and cosmetics anymore, The Skills and Gear all have to match the desired character identity too. And just because my brain hates me so much, it also has to be as viable for content as i can make it. Not “Top-Tier PvE veteran trifecta” level, but good enough to not stick out in a negative way.

Recently i latched onto the idea of making a dark & fiery daedric warlock, with the Pyrebrand set as the Lynch-pin. Many iterations of set combos and subclasses later… i ended up with:

Race: Dunmer Attributes: 56 magicka & 8 health (29k & 28k for Mag & HP) Mundus: The lover

Base class: Dragonknight Active skill lines: Earthen heart, Shadow, Daedric summoning.

Skill Bar 1: Eruption, Flame reach, Haunting Curse, Twilight Matriarch restore, Shadowy Disguise — Shooting star.

Skill bar 2: Phantasmal escape, Resolving vigor, Regenerative ward, Twilight Matriarch restore, Molten armaments — Bolstering darkness.

Gear sets-

Pyrebrand:

Chest — heavy, Reinforced, Health enchant

Helm — Medium, Impen, Magicka enchant

Legs — Heavy, Impen, Health enchant

Flame staff — Nirnhoned, Disease enchant

Knight Slayer:

Gloves, Waist & Boots — Light, Divine, Magicka Enchant Ring & Necklace — Protective, Magicka Recovery enchant

Malacath’s band of brutality (Antiquity) — Bloodthirsty, Weapon damage enchant.

Lord Warden’s dusk: Shoulders — Medium, Impen, Health enchant

Back bar weapon: Potentates Ice staff — Defending, Damage shield enchant

Drink: Witchmother’s Potent Brew Potions: Tri-Pot & HP+Mag+Immovable

Front Bar — *In no-cp zone, with food & back bar buffs active.

*Build is mainly for battlegrounds, so CP isn’t important.

The ideal burst is at it’s core: Reach + minimum of 1 Light attack -> Curse -> Shooting star -> Heavy attack. We Pre-buff from the back bar, and use eruption either side to control movement.

*I am aware of the many flaws- as previously mentioned, the goal is the best i can get while still maintaining the identity and play-style that works best for me.

Update 49: The skills and passives being moved around on dragonknight means i will have to make some changes to the build- as Eruption seems like it won’t exist, and minor brut is moving too. But i am not too disheartened, as i can see ways of making something just as interesting :)

I have had a lot of fun in indulging this hyper-focus. Making this character, testing different combos and refining the vibes- I’ve played so much battlegrounds and ended up learning a lot about playing them better. It’s also been unexpectedly uplifting to see myself on the leaderboards each week, and finally getting some pieces of the Galeskirmish set that i have been oggling for ages!!
