#Give to Gain

When we give to women, there is a lot to gain. It was time for the lecture, and I walked into the class to replace the male lecturer whom students were expecting.

The students watched me in amazement as I introduced myself and gave them a brief background on my education, work experience, and family life. The female students were particularly excited to see a fellow woman shine before their eyes.

At the end of the lecture, both male and female students approached me and pleaded with me to remain the lecturer for the rest of the semester. My male counterpart lecturer was equally good because I had taken a recap from students before teaching them, and I was impressed with the work he had done.

However, the students pushed and pushed, and explained that they loved my delivery and its practical nature, which helped them better understand the course.

When we give to women, the world has a lot to gain.

My mind goes back to the Men who have played a role in my journey:

First on the list is my biological father, Major Francis Bankas(Rtd). He held my hand when I was a little girl, took me to school, and always said I was good. My home school teachers, Uncle Kojo and Uncle Sam, taught me English and Mathematics, and exposed me to the tricks in Essay writing and Arithmetic. My Maths Teacher in Class 6, Mr. Asante, was always beaming with pride when I was the only one in class to beat his questions during the early morning Mathematics drill. Mr. Awuah, my O’Level Math teacher in Achimota School, who prophesied boldly in class that I would make Grade 1 in Maths and Additional Maths at the O’level, and it happened as he said.

I cannot forget Prof. Odoom and Prof. Acheampong, who taught me Statistics and Mathematics, respectively, at the University of Ghana, who loved me and had so much confidence in me.

I cannot forget the Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah of Royalhouse Chapel for his love and confidence; he beamed with a wide smile the first time I wore a pastor’s uniform, and he ordained me as a pastor. He has also been instrumental in my marriage, career, and Ph.D. education.

My husband, Rev Theodore Agormeda-Tetteh, is a firm supporter in my life.

My friend Prof Kofi Osei-Frimpong, who has read every single blog I have written in the last 3 years, and would always give me 50 claps.

My male friends I have had for over forty years from Achimota School: Alex Asiedu, Kofi Fynn, Ato Kwamina Asomaning, Senanu Ashiabor, Edward Nyarko, the list goes on and on…..

Yes, when men give to women, the world gains!!!

Yes, indeed, God created the world:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)

He created them, male and female:

So God created humanity in his own image, In the image of God, he created them; male and female, he created them. (Genesis 1:27)
