Writing a Blog

One of my daily rituals is to listen to podcasts, and one of my favourite podcasts is Akimbo (hosted by the incomparable Seth Godin).

In one of the latest episodes he suggests that rather than prevaricating about writing a blog, one should commit to writing for half an hour a day regardless of the worth of the content one eventually produces.

What an excellent idea, I thought. Then I proceeded to prevaricate until now.

What to write, what not to write?

I thought of doing something on Lindiwe Sisulu, one of our politicians who has recently gained notoriety for criticising the South African judiciary. Then I had the idea of writing about the ridiculous laws around marijuana and why we 'Westerners' have such a hard time legalising something just because its only value is pleasure (yes I know that Mary Jane has many more uses than this).

I had the idea of writing whatever was on my mind. However, this changes as often as the wind, so you can imagine where that went!

Needless to say I did nothing until now. This is my first post on Medium, it was written on my phone, a Motorola G8.

I hope to write more and prevaricate less.
