Embracing slowness in a fast world.

2025 was a year of deep realization for me.
I finally understood why I used to be so negative, so hard on myself, and so awkward around others. I realized that all I really needed was to accept one simple fact: everything takes time, and real change happens slowly.
Now, I am much more intentional when I start something new.
I avoid going “all in” immediately; instead, I start incredibly small.
I might run for just five minutes, clean one tiny corner of a room, or read a single page.
I’ve learned to start with actions so small that my brain doesn’t even register them as a threat.
When you make a massive move, the brain gets startled and resists, saying, “Whoa, you can’t do that! I don’t like change — I want things to stay exactly as they were.”
I’ve found that the same is true for building friendships.
You can’t force an instant connection. While it happens occasionally, it’s rare. Most meaningful relationships are built slowly over time.
In a world of AI and instant gratification, everything happens so fast that we’ve lost our patience for the slow nature of human interaction and habit-building.
The key to embracing this slowness is to make every small step fun and rewarding.
By finding a sense of achievement and a “dopamine hit” in the little things, you eventually find yourself repeating the process simply for the joy of it.
