BURNOUT
- The Collapse
There is a moment when the body can no longer keep sustaining the version of me that was created to survive, please, function, or avoid disappointing anyone. It is not just tiredness. It is the exhaustion of an inauthentic way of being in life.
The part that says yes when it wants to say no. The part that stays silent when it needs to speak. The part that swallows anger to seem polite, hides sadness to seem fine, controls fear to seem strong, adapts desire so as not to disturb. The part that remains available when, inside, there is no space left. The part that learned to keep functioning, even when the body, the soul, was already asking for something else.

- The Message
Burnout can be a brutal signal of intelligence. Not because exhaustion should be romanticised, but because something internal is revealed and no longer accepts living against inner truth.
Feelings are not a problem to be solved. They are information, energy, and raw material for creating. But when the message of these feelings is pushed into the junk email folder across every area of life for too long, life begins to feel heavy. Not because I am wrong, but because I am spending an immense amount of energy keeping alive a persona that no longer exists.
Burnout is the arrival at a limit of elasticity, where the band no longer has the capacity to return to its original shape.
So perhaps burnout brings deeper questions: what part of me can no longer keep living this way? What truth has remained unsaid for too long? What boundary has remained unplaced for too long? What desire has remained postponed for too long? What life am I trying to maintain, even though it is no longer true for me?
- Experimenting Differently
There is a life that cannot be born while I continue protecting the old one.
This is not about romanticising exhaustion, nor making an identity out of it. It is also not about “moving on” as if nothing had happened. Perhaps there is a middle path: to stop, listen, feel, digest what has accumulated, and begin experimenting with small, more authentic choices.
Burnout as a beginning, like ashes that fertilise a new form. This opens the way to: experiment with saying a clean no, instead of attacking or swallowing it — using anger. experiment with preparing for a difficult conversation or taking one small step, instead of freezing — using fear. experiment with letting an old version fall away, instead of pretending everything is fine — using sadness. experiment with following what has life, what gives life, instead of continuing only with what is expected — using joy.
Sometimes, something really does need to end: automatic adaptation, the need to please, the performance of “everything is fine”, the idea that being strong means enduring everything, or the belief that I have the tools to deal with environments that are toxic to me and therefore I stay. When this structure begins to fall, it can feel frightening, but perhaps, for the first time in a long time, I am choosing myself fully.
Burnout is not the end of life. It can be the end of a way of living that no longer serves, and the beginning of a more authentic, more alive experience.
BURN every fake OUT!
