We’re excited to present the ✨ Quansight Annual Report 2025 ✨

It’s been a remarkable year! We finalized our transition from Quansight Labs to Quansight PBC, formalizing our commitment to the open source community, while continuing to support and sustain projects across the scientific Python ecosystem and beyond.

In this report, we present key projects and initiatives, and describe the organizational structure and business model that underpins our work. We also share the values and principles that guide us in fostering healthy collaboration in open source and building mission-aligned consulting partnerships.

Our Projects and Initiatives

We spent over 46,500 hours contributing to 35+ open source projects last year, including CPython, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, stdlib, Narwals, the conda ecosystem, and more!

The report includes detailed updates on some of key projects:

• Free-threaded CPython
• Python packaging and supply chain security
• Accessibility improvements in Bokeh
• Consortium for Python Data API Standards
• Ensuring a fast and secure core for scientific Python

We also share highlights from various OSS projects and communities we participate in, and an overview of our annual initiatives: Open Source Internship Program and Open Source Fund.

Our Organization

The report introduces our refreshed vision and mission statements, along with the core values we defined as a team.

Our work is supported by consulting engagements that are directly or indirectly aligned with open source projects, and grants for some ecosystem-wide or tool-specific projects.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization. We run a voluntary annual demographic survey, and 29% to 48% of our respondents between 2021 and 2025 self-identified as belonging to a marginalized group in tech and open source.
