Centralized management is always a priority for every organization. It’s tough to keep track of each and everything when you are managing a large infrastructure. VMware launched ESXI hypervisor for virtualization of bare metal servers. But as much as your infrastructure will grow that much complicated will be the management of ESXI hosts. To ease the hassle, vCenter comes with a common platform to manage all the hosts in your environment.

Let’s deploy vCenter!

Download VMware vCenter Server Appliance iso from BROADCOM support portal.

After Downloading the iso Go to the download location and mount the iso disk image.

Find the vcsa ui installer > win32 > start the “installer”

Now vCenter server installing web page will be visible:

Select install > Next

Accept the EULA > Next

Whole Installation is divided into 2 stages.

Stage 1

vCenter Server deployment target:

Set the target ESXI host IP/ Name. Enter Username & Password for ESXI host.

Set up vCenter Server VM: Set VM Name & Password

Select Deployment Size as per environment. By default, Tiny is selected.

Configure Network Settings

  • Select IP Version as IPV4
  • IP assignment as Static
  • Select FQDN carefully, vm name with domain name
  • Set IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway & DNS servers accordingly

Select Compatible Datastores.

N.B. If not enough space left then Enable Thin Disk Mode.

Now, Ready to Complete Stage 1. Click Next and Finish this stage.

After completing stage 1 installation, Select Continue.

Stage 2

Set up the vCenter server!

vCenter Server configuration

  • Set Time sync with ESXI Host
  • Enable SSH access

Set SSO domain name & Password.

Then, Join the CEIP and Select Next.

Ready to Go! Start the final installation. Once the installation complete, then login into vCenter from vSphere web client interface either searching by IP address or FQDN.
