Who do you call when you lose it all?

Picture a late train ride home. The sky has gone dark outside the window, and something inside feels just as heavy. That’s where “Lifeline” by Zyrius begins — chasing “bigger dreams,” only to find “nothing’s ever as it seems.” Does that sound familiar?

Zyrius sings about reaching for more — success, riches, control — and finding none of it satisfies. “I tried to have it all,” Zyrius admits, “but riches couldn’t fulfill my soul.” That’s a hard truth to sit with, and you’re not alone. Just look around you, and you’ll see many people chasing the world’s version of “enough”… and most will sadly tell you that it leaves you more empty than when you started.

Zyrius shows how to turn this around. “And when I lost it all, cried out for you.” Read it again… did you catch it? Zyrius is saying that when you bring God into the equation, it changes everything. God doesn’t wait for you to have it all figured out before showing up. He’s already there, often warning you long before the fall.

Psalm 34:18 makes this clear: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Near — not distant or not disappointed — near. Your lowest moment is not disqualifying. It’s an invitation to invite God into the situation.

What would it look like to stop white-knuckling control today? Try releasing one worry right now, pray it out loud, to God. God specializes in healing hearts that feel hollowed out by chasing the wrong things.

May this song stick in your mind and remind you that you were never meant to carry this alone. You too may sing to God: “Your love is a lifeline.”
