Undoubtedly, everyone has had to attend interviews at some point, whether they were for a job or education. Whatever the cause, there is some ambiguity regarding how everything will pan out, and sure, the most of us, if not all of us, are typically anxious about it. That is not to argue that we are unqualified or unprepared for the position for which we are seeking; on the contrary, the human brain has a natural tendency to react to the unknown. Being examined, talking about yourself, and meeting strangers in positions of responsibility might feel overwhelming at times.

Lapid leaders mock group interviews

I’ve never participated in a group interview, but attending one that Lapid Leaders Africa planned was eye-opening. Since it allows employers to gauge if a candidate can work well within a team, the leadership and communication skills were put to a lot of test.Speaking out is crucial, especially for individuals who are shy or introverted, as most interviewers pay attention to which group members are most comfortable expressing their thoughts. This can have an impact on how a prospective employer views and evaluates a candidate’s performance during the interview.

I wanted to prepare for the individual mock interview session, so I went over the job description, learned about the organization, and wrote down the questions I would ask during the interviews. By this point, we had undergone a rigorous review of our CV and cover letter led by qualified HR coaches. It was time to put all of the lessons learned and corrections made into practice during a real interview. I was a little uneasy even though this wasn’t going to be my first interview because I now knew how to handle interviews better and there was so much expectation.

If we don’t conclude the interview with a “Thank you” statement, it says a lot about who we are, regardless of how well we present our responses and persuade the interviewer of our capabilities. The key to a successful interview is to prepare thoroughly, whether it means customizing the cover letter to match the qualifications required, adhering to the dress code on interview day, or conducting a successful interview.

I’ve learned how to package my comments effectively to match the abilities required, and I’ve been quite effective at it. The interviewer can gain a better understanding of my goals and direction in terms of the skill set I want to build by hearing about the growth areas I have and want to pursue.

No matter what you wear, your smile is more essential than anything else, as Connie Stevens famously sang. Even during interviews, smiling lets us convey our openness and sends a positive signal to the interviewers. It is crucial since it increases our mood, memory recall, and creativity throughout the interview. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t go overboard.
