What’s burning?

I wasn’t cooking anything, was I?

Leaving my coffee mug on the table, I go downstairs in the kitchen.

And I find nothing.

Oh! What a waste of time and energy. I come down 14 flights of stairs and nothing needs saving. Now, I wish something was burning.

Clink.

What’s that noise?

Oh, my mug!

I rush back upstairs and I find nothing.

My mug is happily sitting there on table. Now, I wish, no, no, even though I bought it on sale, I love my mug.

“More than me.”

What’s that?

Ah, not again, I’m not falling for it this time.

“What if I fall?”

“Who’s there?”

“The one you don’t love as much as your coffee mug.”

“The tea mug?”

“I’m not a mug, do I look like a mug to you?”

“In my defence, I can’t see you.”

“You are looking at me, you are living in me, I’m your house.”

“Oh, uh… but I love you.”

“No, you don’t. I heard what you said in the kitchen.”

“No, that was just my way of saying that this house is so great that I don’t have to worry about anything going wrong which seems so strange that I have to create scenarios in my head about something going wrong. You know what I mean, right?”

“Oh, you meant it like that. I’m sorry, I thought you wanted to burn me down.”

“Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.”

“Anyways, thank you for acknowledging my efforts. I really do a lot here, but the last owner, he used to tweet rubbish about me.”

“Haw, you know what, let me grab my coffee mug and you can tell me all about it.”
