135th Monthly Technical Session

Every month, HENNGE hosts technical talks on various subjects that our members wish to share with their peers. On October 24th, 2025, we had our 135th session. Like most recent sessions, this was a hybrid remote and on-site talk done via Zoom and in the HENNGE offices in Shibuya. There were four speakers at this day’s shorter than normal session.

Introduction to the talks

Opening

Before talks began, the night’s MC introduced the rules of the event as well as listing the talks for the day. As this event was close to Halloween, the slides were themed with festive Halloween colors. Soon after the introductions, the event pivoted towards the scheduled tech talks.

Drama in Physics

Intro to Physics Drama

The first talk of the night was about drama in the physics field. In physics, the drama is based of who is right or wrong, not regular drama. In this talk physics drama was compared to rap drama where two people exchange dis tracks. Also discussed the importance of independant confirmation of data. Then the blackhole imaging study was shown here as an example of the back and forth that happens between scientific papers when trying to prove each-other wrong. Currently there is no reproduction of the black hole image generation paper.

The Breakup Talk

The Breakup

The second talk of the night was about a breakup that happened with Adobe and some of its aquired software. The talk went over Adobe’s history with buying up software like freehand, how they got around regulations to do so, and how they make money from this process. Followed by how they failed to acquire Figma in the end and how this lead to a giant boom for Figma’s future. Finally a competitor to Adobe, due to an error on Adobe’s part.

Nonograms in Python

Solving Nonogram Puzzles with Python

This talk was an introduction to the Nonogram problems, Pycross project and how the project can be used to solved the problems. A nonogram is a paint by numbers problem. Its an NP-Complete problem which means they are difficult to solve but easy to verify problems. The author of this talk created the pycross project which is used to solve these problems. Since its an NP-Complete, the soultions are fairly brute force, requiring iteration to solve.

How to get rid of DockerHub from your life

The final talk of the night was on how to stop using DockerHub. DockerHub brings problems to people using it because it goes down quite a lot. Quite a lot of HENNGE products have experienced issues with release flows due to DockerHub going down. Next the speaker talked about how DockerHub’s price change also is effecting the desire to stop using DockerHub. Then the speaker talked about the super easy way to automate moving off of DockerHub for existing instances. This was followed by a lengthy Q&A session.

After all the talks were completed, the MC thanked everyone for attending and also announced the poll for attendees to help improve the monthly technical session. This poll is given each time at the end of all the presentations. After the talks, the session ended with opportunities for socializing after work. What new topics will be on offer for MTS 136?
