Council makes right choice — Letter to the Editor Published May 31, 2019 — Tracy Press

The City Council showed some great leadership within our city, at the May 21 council meeting. They carefully questioned and rejected a proposal by city staff and a private consultant that effectively guts the current Tracer transit system serving the city of Tracy, in favor of cost and a subsidized private system, which may be run by a vendor like Uber or Lyft. While changes must be made, the fixed route transit system is critical to serve those in our community who need a consistent way to get to services, work and food. Measured change must be made, but not at the expense of serving those in need, in our ever growing city.
