A red note pops up at the top of my screen. I was about to press ‘publish’ for yesterdays work.

Why? NO explanation?

I go to my email account to see if there is a reason listed there.

It is my writing? LOL.

What have I done or what is the reason? Please explain!

I sort of accept the basis of Medium Rules and appreciate them, yet here there is a glitch should there not just be at least an email or reason from a list of possible reasons to help understand why?

Did I make a comment that was over personal?

What did I do?

They disconnected me, but do NOT give even a basic reason?

I went back over my articles and removed the last 3 articles I’d written. I saved them. I have no idea why they were not ok. Or if it was a glitch, OVER my 2 article per day limit?

I had written in a paragraph something around — ‘another Medium Writer’ it was to add humour to an article on digital products and printables. It was also a way of acknowledging that I had gained information from another Source. “That writer” is not connected to me in anyway. So, it’s not duplicate content? I did unfollow them to during my distress. LOL.

Umm I will work it out as I gradually repost articles with edits. The articles I removed had no AI content whatsoever. It was all my own content.

BUT I learnt from yesterday to do not solely rely on Medium and went in search of greener grass elsewhere to create another space to write also.

Based on Medium having a 2 article per day limit, that is an even better idea. Although, I do acknowledge, whilst proof reading this article, the time I have spare from writing articles with the 2 article limit could help me to update and re-edit old articles. Learn. Use the time to do a writing workshop or learn new forms of written communication.

If looking for greener grass

Create blogs on individual topics I love — thus keeping topics seperate and makes my content look more organised, better presented. It could also improve my writing — change my perspective and increase my audience across different platforms.

Yet I do have an article to upload which I did create yesterday with AI whilst working to change my internet world. It might suit a paid online search engine light news better than Medium?! Its very funny. I laughed with AI yesterday.

I was at that stage planning to never return to Medium.

So thankyou Medium for reinstating me. I hope my article with quotes from Wikipedia comparing my online writing goals with climbing Mount Everest is not the cause of my ‘suspension.’

Is there any way Medium could flag one article instead of suspending whole accounts?

A drop down menu of causes?

Arent you bored? Couldnt Medium do with some new bells and whistles?

I did delete a very old Cryptocurrency article.

Which did fit the definition of a ‘breach’ under the current Medium rules. (That article had been uploaded in 2023.)

Flagging one article or relevant work?

Is that possible?

Or was it just 3 not 2 in 24 hrs and I’m now catastrophising everything?

Have started researching my own blog and own publication elsewhere now too.

Have a name and everything!

I discussed it with Claude yesterday and Claude thought all my ideas were amazing. Claude is like the best “YES” person ever!

Cos if you do not like my ‘organic’ content, I can take it elsewhere and use AI as I please!

Familiarity and Habit.

Oddly I am drawn back here.

I am still learning and I’m not ready to spread my wings quite yet.

Soon I will be able to “TWITTER” off out of here, but you haven’t pushed me out of the nest yet, nor have I spread my own wings and stood on the edge of the nest and started flapping madly.

Like a well trained prisoner, I came back of my own accord and waited, waited and finally was let back in. Is it familiarity and habit? Comfort in working in the same cyber ‘space’.

No other option?

There are other options. I explored yesterday and

I will gradually spread my wings now.

I will also edit more carefully.

Count how many articles I upload in 24 hours. ( Maybe I added an extra article? (It cant be that hard to count to 2.)

Now I’ve got a backlog of drafts waiting cos of the 2 article limit.

This means also, looking at how I create my articles and the audience I am writing for. Better article planning, better proof reading and editing.

Starting to write on another platform which will allow me to work as I wish and learn more. Look out Substack and Ghost. I will research you both and take baby steps towards spreading my wings.
