Planning Board Meeting — March 24

There are two items of interest.

Initial Zoning Recommendations in Connection with the Voluntary Annexation of Property in the County

The first item is a carryover from the February meeting regarding the request for an initial zoning recommendation for a property that wishes to be annexed within Town boundaries. The Planning Board has no role with respect to recommending or not recommending the annexation, just only the initial zoning request. The second item is also a request for an initial zoning recommendation for a property that wishes to be annexed within Town boundaries.

The Subject Site (103.4 acres +/-) is currently zoned under Brunswick County’s Rural Low Density Residential (RR) zoning district. The Applicant is requesting the site be zoned Leland’s R-6, Residential District, Medium Density.

The R-6 zoning district is established for medium density residential homes which encourages construction and use of land for single-family dwellings while at the same time prohibiting commercial and industrial use of the land and any other use which would substantially interfere with the development of single-family dwellings.
