Where Humanity Begins, They’re Already There

“The way we treat the voiceless says more about us than the way we treat each other.”

We actually think that humanity is all about how much money we earn, how much intelligent we are, how much well mannered we are and how progressive we are in our lives. But mainly it is measured by simple and kind things, like how we treat those who can’t stand for themselves.

For this blog, I walked through streets and roads and I find those things who cannot speak for themselves. Dogs drinking from waste water and sleeping on garbage. Hungary cats searching food from the dustbins and seeking refuge under the parked automobiles. Animals at here not living their lives but they are in survival mode. The design of the society has made them feral.

“They don’t ask for much ,just a place to exist without suffering.”

By looking at all those pictures, we can understand the sufferings . Birds flying unstoppably under the scorching sun, just to find a safe place where they can land and take refuge from the sun and drink some water. In extreme summers, many birds died when they find no water. In winters, they fight with the cold breeze. Their sufferings are silent, but are painful and real.

“Silence does not mean they feel less, it means we listen less.”

After all these circumstances when animals get sick by drinking polluted water and eating from garbage, we consider them “problem” . Then we start complaining about the diseases and we fear that their existence can endanger our lives , and then we come up with the solution, a inhumane one ; kill them , give poison to them or shoot them. This is the cycle we created to save ourselves but sacrifice them for our well being. This is not the failure of our society but the failure of our empathy.

“We create the problem, and then punish them for surviving it.”

The truth is that the no proper arrangements for animals is not a small issue, it is the root of many other issues. When animals and birds are exposed to hot and cold weather , and when they feed on dirty water and food, illness becomes inevitable. And where sickness reigns, fear reigns. Fear must not take the place of responsibility. There is a better approach that doesn’t call for large, impractical systems.

Just little, plain shelters that could be set up by the side of the streets and in communities. No fancy architecture, but darkened areas in summertime, heated corners in wintertime. In summers and winters, small animals like cats and birds take refuge under the parked vehicles, they should check under the vehicle before going for the drive, so that they don’t get hurt. Areas where the animals are able to rest, drink clean water and live dignified lives. In the case of birds, this might imply the provision of water bowls on roof tops, small shaded perches and nest boxes in secure places. Local communities, volunteers, or municipal bodies could keep these micro-shelters minimal cost.

In addition, simple vaccination programs, regular feeding stations with clean water, and appropriate waste management may significantly lower illness. Animals that are in better health are safer, calmer, and considerably less prone to cause any harm to the people of community.We don’t need to kill them, we need to exist side-by-side with them.In actuality, they have already demonstrated what we find difficult to understand. unconditional loyalty. Have faith without any reason. unconditional kindness.
