Sooryavanshi was the only Hindi film in 2021 that made some noise at the box office.

Only a few films managed to secure a proper theatrical release in 2021, and a handful managed to set the cash registers ringing.

All eyes were set on the Akshay Kumar-starrer to bring back audiences to the theatres, and it delivered on that promise. It opened to a positive word of mouth and beat all odds like 50 percent occupancy, the pandemic fear to have an opening weekend of ₹77.08 crores and ended up making ₹196 crores nett at the domestic box office and ₹261 crores worldwide.

But Spiderman: No Way Home became the biggest hit at the Indian Box Office, again a Hollywood film taking up the coveted number one crown with over ₹203 crores collections.

Other film which made some buzz at the box office was Allu Arjun starrer Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise, which made ₹75 crores nett in Hindi only while in all the languages it made around ₹200 crores while the worldwide gross stands at ₹306 crores.

The much awaited Kabir Khan’s 83 also made some money at the box office with ₹97 crores nett at the domestic box office and ₹170 crores gross worldwide.

Let’s hope 2022 turns out to be a better year for Hindi cinema.
