The Profession of God!

Here, perhaps I only wish to anchor one certainty: I walk with God. I believe in the existence of the Divine; I merely stand outside the gates of religious ritual. Yet, this detachment does not bend to the common modern echo that ‘God is a mere artifact of human thought.’ Why? That premise is not entirely false, but it is a flat reductionism — it blindfolds itself from the very concept of ‘the Beginning.’

The architecture of religion, the bowing and the chanting, may well have been born from humanity’s early attempts to read the stars with limited tools. But it is equally true that God might be the very origin of the human condition itself.

Humans are rare vessels — conscious of their own existence, which inherently means we are haunted by the void, by nothingness. Deep within, the amygdala — ever watchful, ever anxious — registers this empty silence as a threat. To survive, early humans embraced the void radically, whispering to themselves that ‘nothingness is a presence, woven but unseen.’

Through this crucible of thought, a language of worship was carved to cradle the unseen void. Passed from hand to hand, shared in the dark, it crystallized into what we now call faith.

Thus, I view the tether between humanity, religion, and God through the archetype of Mother and Child. Religion is the mother; human knowledge of God is the child. A mother is not infallible; she can lose her way. Yet, without her womb, the child would never breathe. And by that same law, without a child, a woman is never crowned a mother.

It is this evolutionary spiral that leads to my ultimate posture: ‘God is my ignorance.’ And pushing deeper into the dark, I must redefine it: ‘God is the ignorance that I do not know’ — for even the gravity of the Mother and Child cannot fully weigh the vastness that lies beyond my own unmapped horizon.
